Kikugido Practice Journal
April 6
Two days before the cherry blossom festival in Teshino-en, rehearsals for the performance were held today as before.
When performing as a swordsmanship event, in addition to the standard 剱伎衆 kamui performance, basic stances and kumite are the main focus, but it is important to work on the formations depending on the venue and the members of the performance, and to determine the arrangements to smoothly connect the performance to the other performances according to the progress of the stage.
Because of the number of performers and the number of programs, rehearsals must proceed quickly and efficiently in order to keep up with the schedule.
The same is true for the children, who are expected to immediately understand and perform the choreography and movements that are given to them.
At the end of the practice, Shimaguchi-sensei gave us advice one by one,
While good parts and traces of growth are recognized in each individual, there are, of course, issues that need to be addressed.
This is proof that they are working on their training and taking on new challenges every day.
Even in the adult frame rehearsals, customizations were made to the "Sakura Matsuri" specifications for the standard performance to make sure they were put into place.
With each performance, the model changes a little with each change in the members who perform, and the familiar acts continue to shine brightly without fading.
It would be wonderful if we could pass on Kamui/Kenkido's works in the same way as kabuki plays have been performed for centuries and continue to capture the hearts and minds of audiences.
Please look forward to the "newest" version of Kendou's performance on the 7th and 8th at Shonen Park!
