Kikugido Practice Journal
September 11, 2018
Today was a continuation of the previous rehearsal with the "Shamisen" performance.
In the children's frame, we counted the kumite that we always perform and incorporated it into the standing performance.
The first half of the performance is the basic 1-10 kata, and the second half of the performance is also something I have done before.
Today, however, we learned that the connecting part is very important.
The question is how and when to move between the first half and the standing performance, and between the end of the standing performance and the start of the second half.
I am very encouraged by the growth of the children, who are absorbing new things at an ever-increasing rate.
In the adult frame, we built the structure ourselves.
It's hard to tell where you stand when you are moving around inside, but when you look at it from the front, you can see at a glance that it would look better if you did it a little more like this.
I had been trying my best to memorize the choreography and my own movements, but from now on, I thought that if we all broaden our perspectives, look at things objectively, and move with a shared understanding of the choreographer's intentions, we can instantly create a better performance together.
I am now looking forward to the fall, when we will have the main event of Kendou Kendou.
Thank you again for your time today.
