Kikugido Training Room Journal April 24th (㈫)
Today's children's frame was a sword dance practice in a more limited space than usual.
The sense of distance is an important aspect of swordsmanship.
Because they are handling swords and sometimes spears and naginata, they must be careful not to injure those around them or damage walls and ceilings.
Therefore, we are strictly observed during practice, as well as before and after practice, when we line up.
This is because it is important not only for safety, but also for the beauty of expression.
This awareness fosters a mindset that looks at the whole picture, not just oneself, and cares about how it looks.
Naturally, adults in charge of teaching are also expected to encourage children to be aware of their surroundings.
The accumulation of these efforts will make them beautiful standing on the stage in the performance,
For example, even if that stage space is limited, it will allow for safe and dynamic performances.
The words "be aware of your surroundings" and "line up with the center of the room" go beyond mere discipline and touch on the essence of Kogido, the art of swordsmanship, which is "learning to communicate with others through interpersonal relationships.
Thanks again for your hard work today.
