The roof of the shrine, where the deity resides, was repaired to make it "the Nikko of Tohoku" once again.
In 2025, Doitsu Shrine will celebrate its 350th anniversary. The copper plates on the roof of the main shrine building have fallen off due to last winter's snow storm. Even after emergency repairs, the roof still leaks, and there are fears that if the situation continues as is, it may affect the sacred body of the shrine.
This project is positioned as the first step to revive "Nikko in Tohoku" by restoring the shrine pavilions from the time of its founding. By doing so, we hope to pass on the history and culture of the Doitsu Shrine to the next generation, and to make Inawashiro, Aizu, and Fukushima more vibrant.
